This project is a community-driven initiative located in Kodimangalam, a village in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Designed to serve as a multifunctional space, the centre brings together various programs under one roof including classrooms for children, a dedicated office for local farmers, self-help group activity zones and essential sanitation facilities. The architectural language emphasizes local materials and passive design strategies to create a structure that’s rooted in its context both environmentally and culturally. The central courtyard becomes a shared space for learning, gathering and interaction, fostering a sense of community and belonging. With open planning, natural ventilation and minimal intervention, the centre reflects a grounded approach to rural development and inclusive design.
